Alumni Return to Campus

They came from Eastern and Central Pennsylvania, from Michigan and Ohio, from Tennessee and Indiana, from West Virginia and Maryland, and across New York. July 6-8 found alumni returning to the Academy for a weekend of re-connecting with old friends and meeting others who have shared the Academy experience.

Most of those in attendance graduated in the early 70's, but the 60's and 80's were represented as well. Special guests were Buddy and LaNora Keith and Herr Cummings. Keith was a teacher/administrator at the Academy for 39 years and he recalled many escapades alumni would just as soon he had forgotten. Cummings was a German professor and friend to Academy students over several decades.

Conversations regarding things past and present, looking at old photos, and fellowshipping over fine food filled most of the weekend. Some alums did manage a nostalgic trip to Letchworth State Park. Forty-five alumni and friends gathered for the traditional cookout on Saturday evening.

Headmaster Philip G. Stockin welcomed guests to campus. Stockin gave tours of the Academy and shared plans for future programs and facilities. He commented, “The weekend was simply delightful. Conversations with alumni always affirm the Academy's ministry. Thanks to all who made the journey to Houghton. Maybe next time even more will be able to attend.”
